Here’s my Heart Lord

“The word ‘Heart’ occurs a thousand times in the Bible. It symbolises the individual,   and often refers to ones desires, knowledge, emotions and more. Giving our heart to God is surrendering our life to God completely. When we open the eyes of our heart and see that God is loving, compassionate and

truthful, we experience the power of cleansing and the joy of freedom – the kind of joy that makes a child run shelter skelter in a playground! God is lovely and all powerful. In Him there is no evil. He is trustworthy. It is safe to give our heart to Him. He will speak the truth and protect our hearts and our lives from the lies and hatred the world spews out. He will purify it through the refiners fire and make us holy

and pure. Don’t you want to give your heart to Jesus?”

Lord, You’re My Everything

“Psalms 139: 13-18.

Ever wondered what makes us (the believers) so different from the rest of the world? What makes us always stand out in the crowd, even though we are just ordinary human beings? Well, let me tell you, we are no ordinary beings for we have been fearfully and wonderfully made by our awesome God. He has created each one of us in His own image even though He  knew that we all would fall deep into sins. But hey, He didn’t abandon us when we were lost in darkness and denied Him several times. Clothed in sinful robes, when we call out to His Holy name, He reaches out to us and saves us every time. Knowing Jesus is perhaps the best thing and being His children is the most beautiful thing for each one of us is a masterpiece of His handiwork. He is everything that we ever need. He completes us with His overflowing love and kindness. And if our God is with us who can ever stand against us?”

Freedom in Christ

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1‭. ESV

Christ has set us free from the gravitational pull of sin which no longer has it’s effect on us. Christ has set us free from fear of the future, fear of people, fear of circumstances because we can lean on him. Not just count on him when sometimes things go wrong like a life boat, but to trust the captain who is in full control what ever happens. When we realize that God has a plan and that cannot be thwarted despite our sins or our circumstances then we can live in true freedom.”

“Do you believe God is who He says He is?”

Many times we feel like we don’t know who God is at all, just because we don’t ‘feel’ Him around us like we used to. But I realized, faith isn’t about feelings. It’s believing even when we can’t see.

So this worship session centered around : “Do you believe God is who He says He is?” It is about how great out God is, and searching our hearts to see if we truly, deeply believe in Him despite our circumstances.

“As we were struggling to find a worship leader for today, I decided on Saturday to finally volunteer even though I was a little unwell with a sore throat and cough. After committing myself for the task, I told God ‘I promise God that this illness will not get in the way of me leading worship’. God replied, ‘Thats not your job Benji. Its my job to promise you that your sore throat and cough will not get in the way of worship at Church this Sunday’. Our MIGHTY God kept that promise and we could dwell on the mightiness of God through this time of worship. There is no-one like our God. He is so big, so strong and so mighty. There’s nothing He can’t do. Our God is greater than anything that can bring you down. He is mighty to save – with compassion. In response we sing our praises to the Almighty King of creation.”

“This week has been a particularly difficult one with many questions, struggles and agonizing prayer for hurting friends. In addition with the last phase of the national elections going on there is a degree of uncertainty for what the results will bring. So with all that going on as I reflected on what God would have us focus on, the truth of His sovereignty and majesty is what came to mind. Whatever chaos is around us in the world, God is still and always will be on the throne and we need to constantly remember that.

A quote from A W Tozer that I read this morning was also very meaningful. He wrote in this piece entitled ‘The Missing Jewel of Worship’, ” I want to define worship and here is where I want to be dogmatic. Worship means to ‘feel in the heart’ . A person that merely goes through the form and does not feel anything is not worshipping. Worship also means to ‘express in some appropriate manner’ what you feel. And what will be expressed? ‘A humbling but delightful sense of admiring awe and astonished wonder.’ It is delightful to worship God, but it is also a humbling thing.”
